This painting is a vibrant portrayal of tropical fruits, each meticulously detailed by Wang Mo Ping’s brushstrokes. This piece features various fruits like the brightly coloured dragon fruit, the regal pineapple and the deep purple-black mangosteen rendered with a velvety texture. The durian has a distinctive presence, as the shades of yellow and ivory of the durian flesh glows under the artist’s skilful play of light. Wang Mo Ping was a former lecturer at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. To date, he has held 6 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions. In 2019, Wang Mo Ping’s painting titled ‘Jurong Fishery Port’ earned him the first place oil painting category at the annual Dr Tan Tsze Chor Art Awards by Singapore Art Society in 2019.
