Nai Swee Leng depicts an array of flowers that he personally grew at home in this traditional ink painting. This practice of picturing personal still life objects close to heart had been a practice amongst Chinese ink painters for many years. Nai Swee Leng stays true to this custom as a form of respect and continuation to the spirit of this historical medium.

Nai Swee Leng received a gruelling training in ink painting. Before attending Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, where he spent 3 years studying Western and Chinese Art. he was already a gifted pupil of Fan Chang Tien. Fan was a private pupil of Wang Geyu who was in turn one of the few personal students of Wu Changshuo, a leading figure of the famed Shanghai School in Chinese Painting. this background gave Fan and Nai special places in Singapore’s art history. Naturally, Nai Swee Leng exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mainland China. He helped found the Molan art Association and is presently its advisor.
