Measuring 120x80cm, “The Protector” is one the larger paintings by Liu Xuan Qi since he won the platinum award at the UOB Painting of the Year Competition in 2012.
Depicting an imposing lion with its cub, this painting points at the significance of family ties in asian culture. It is also part of the Wandering Cloud Series of paintings where Liu Xuan Qi surveys the value of identity, traditions, culture in rapidly modernising societies.
