This painting of a beautiful scene opposite Pura Taman Ayun a temple in Bali was inspired by Marvin’s travels to Bali, Indonesia. Viewers would notice that the depiction of the water body fills a large segment of the composition which permits Marvin to freely paint the reflections. The greenery and houses on the opposite bank are nicely painted as well. This artwork by Marvin reflects his confidence and passion in painting natural sceneries in Singapore and countries in the region.

From 2009 to 2016, Marvin served as the Vice president of Singapore Watercolour society. In 2016, Marvin Chew participated in the International Festival of Watercolour Artists for the 234th anniversary of Rattanakosin (Bangkok), Thailand. In 2018, he was invited to participate in the "International Watercolour Masters Exhibition" held in the UK.
