This half sheet watercolour painting was completed back in Singapore after Marvin’s trip to Tanjong Pinang in Bintan, Indonesia with a group of artists from the Singapore Watercolour society. This painting is well composed, the singular boat in the foreground forms a nice contrast with the row of houses in the background, there is even a suggestion of things beyond with the inclusion of flying birds in the distance. As with many of Marvin’s paintings, the component of the river is nicely executed in this creation. All of these aspects are nicely brought together with the application of soothing, calming colours.

Marvin has exhibited his paintings widely in different countries in the region. In 2014, Marvin participated in the “Langkawi Art Biennale”. In 2016 he participated in “A Journey to Hue” a watercolour painting tour and exhibition in Hue City, Vietnam. In 2017, Marvin participated in an annual exhibition organised by the Singapore Art Society.
